Stopped in while we were apartment shopping to verify that when we return 1 month later from living out of state for 14 years that we would be able to rent a washer/dryer for the first 3-4 months before we packed up everything & made the "big permanent move". Even explained that we wanted to give it a trial here before we commit to the complete move, which is why we'd need to rent furniture/appliances at first. Was reassured that it would be no problem, even was given an application. So we decided to sign a lease on a place WITHOUT a washer/dryer, since we definitely could rent one from R2O when the time came. 1 month later, when I go to apply, I talk to both the chat line & store manager about our concerns over giving 6 friends/families contact info as references. Seems a bit ridiculous considering we can rent a home or car, which are infinitely more valuable, on just our own credit worthiness. It's extremely distasteful to have to sacrifice friends & family personal information, essentially as sales leads. But it is what it is. So when I had finally made peace with submitting all our personal information & the aforementioned 6 references....nothing. No one contacts me for days after I submitted the application. I contact them & an employee set up my delivery day/time with the specific model that I want & says the accounts approval department will contact me in the morning if there's any missing or needed info. 4 days later I've heard nothing, so I call to verify everything is still a "go" for Monday delivery. I'm told the manager will call me back. The manager (Adam Crawford) calls & says that we aren't approved because we've only been at our address for 2 weeks. Information that would have been useful 6 weeks ago, before we signed a no w/d lease & before we gave all our info & references. This information has been escalated (internally via email from the chat line reps) to both the Regional & District Manager (Ben), with no response, despite being told they would call me. Other R2O stores in the same state/area say that there's no requirement for how long you've been at your current residence. We were at our previous address was 9 years, can't imagine being less of a flight risk/more stable than that! I really think the manager is holding a personal grudge because it upset him that we think the 6 references requirement is a poor business practice. So what if that's my opinion, as long as I play by the rules, is that any reason to reject my application & then lie that it's another department or a bogus reason? At this point, I wouldn't even feel safe to rent from him. I loved their website, chat line, store employees, but if a manager is given too much leeway with no checks & balances to hold him accountable, it can really hurt a business' otherwise least-of-the-evils reputation. I really thought that R2O stood above other rental stores, but I see now that they have their own unsavory practices, albeit less obvious until you're too far involved. Silly me for thinking that 9 years at the same residence, a credit score in the 700s (which they don't use), 6 legitimate references (which they never called), a copy of a signed lease, local phone number, gas, electric & cable bills, etc could qualify me to rent a w/d set valued at less than $1k. I guess I was wrong to believe your advertising & employees about how simple it would be. After all, it's up to the whims & prejudices/grudges of the manager, Adam Crawford. I was right after all Adam, very poor business practices indeed! If you’re curious as to the business ethics of this manager, look at the reviews of this store. One is by Adam Crawford. If you click on his profile picture, you can see all his reviews. Interestingly, he has reviewed several R2O stores as 5 stars & other rental stores he leaves 1 star & says disparaging things like "their stuff is dirty". Make your own judgement & take your own risks, but don’t say you weren’t warned.

The manager, Adam, is a great guy. He and Renee have always been huge helps for me and my family. Great people!
